EVALUATION //

CONCLUSION //

A new improved prototype is born:

DETACHING: the person in the wheelchair gives to order to stand still and puts the hook in the loop by steering his wheelchair towards it. Then he orders the dog to detach himself by shouting "collier!". The collar stays on the hook now. The last order is the one to collapse the arm.
ATTACHING: the dog gets the order to pull out the arm attached to the wheelchair. The the order "collier!" is given. The dog put his head through the collar. Now the person in the wheelchair can detach the loop from the hook if the dog is standing still.

This system could perhaps work with a magnet as well.

Prototype 18

EXPLANATION //

Improvement of protoype 9.
inspired by prototype 8: the retractable device

Prototype 17

EXPLANATION //

Improvement of prototype 5: we added a pulley on the leash.

- same locking system as before, the collar is tensioned automatically when the dog walks (pulls leash)
- If the dog pulls at the end of the rope that is next to his head, then the loop becomes bigger,
so he can detach himself.

Prototype 16

EXPLANATION //

Evolution of prototype 5 in combination with prototype 1.

The V-slot is attached to the wheelchair in stead of the dog's collar.
The little balls at the end of the ropes (zie afb) will be thrown in the V-slot-box by the dog.

ATTACHING:
Step 1: throw the ball at the end of the leash in the V-slot.
Step 2: put your head through the loop.
Step 3: start walking

DETACHING:
Step 1: grab the ball at the end of your collar (hanging next to the head)
Step 2: move or walk; the loop becomes bigger.
Step 3: Remove your head from the loop.

Testing prototype 8:

retractable device on collar + jacket

VIDEO //

EVALUATION //

CONCLUSION //

For the moment, it would be to difficult for the dog to pull the leash out of the mechanism and to give attach it to the wheelchair. Because 1. he is not trained. and 2. dogs pull with their entire body, so you put the dog in a difficult position if you wnat him to grab something that is attached to his own body.

CONCLUSION //

In this 'form' the system is not usuable, but it can be used to inspire new concepts, ore to improve other prototypes.
